The Iranian writer Azar Nafisi once said that, “Fundamentalism is a modern phenomenon. In the same way that Hitler evoked a mythological religion of German purity and the glory of the past, the Islamists use religion to evoke emotions and passions in people who have been oppressed for a long time in order to reach their purpose.”
Why does history continue to repeat itself? Have we truly learned nothing from the past? Or do people truly not care what is happening in the world? Honestly, too many people truly do not care. And it’s a shame. Sometimes, I think Thomas Hobbes was right when he said that humans are very selfish and willing to hurt each other if we think it will benefit ourselves. Personally, I never want to be become that person. Ignore people who threaten your joy. Literally, do not even waste your time acknowledging them. Do you think he was right? Why or why not?
