10 Confessions of a Pakistani Muslim American Rebel

  1. I confess that I dislike going to Pakistani functions where aunties gossip and talk about how many gas stations their husbands own. It’s just not my thing. I have many Pakistani friends that are near and dear to my heart though.
  2.   I confess that I am guilty of unintentionally hurting other people’s feelings. I am human. I am continuously living and learning how to be a better person.
  3. I confess that there was a time in my life when I cared what other people thought of me. Now, I don’t, and life couldn’t be better.
  4. I confess that I am guilty of not waking up at 5:30 am every morning though my planner says I should. That’ll be one of my New Year’s Resolutions.
  5. I confess that the first song that popped into my head while attempting to answer this prompt was “Confessions” by Usher and then I immediately thought of all the middle school dances my parents never let me go to when I was younger. #ForeignParentsProblems
  6. I confess that I forgot to call my Mom yesterday and she’s probably disappointed about it, so I’m going to call her after this post.
  7. I confess that I wrote this blog when I came to a point where I was sick of feeling sorry for myself, so I decided to finally do something about it.
  8. I confess that I am still not 100% what my New Year’s Even plans are, but I am sure it will be fun regardless.
  9. I confess that there are moments when I forget how privileged I am to live in one of the greatest countries in the entire world. It’s a blessing.
  10. I confess that I have never been happier with my life than I am right now. I’ve never felt so alive. I truly wish everyone could feel the way I do when I wake up in the morning.
